Overview

This programme is delivered over 2 days, Thursday 28th March from 9:15 am – 4:30 pm, and Tuesday 16 April 9:15 am – 4:30 pm will give you a range of theories, skills and techniques that can be used when delivering training. You will learn how to plan and prepare effectively and you will deliver a session whilst receiving supportive and constructive feedback. Trainer Elaine Bolton will share her extensive experience with you and equip you to put theory into practice.

This course will enable you to

  • Have an overview of the theories and current research that affect how people learn
  • Know how to put the training cycle into practice
  • Understand your role as a trainer
  • Have identified the key skills of an effective trainer
  • Have prepared for and delivered a training session with feedback

Who is the Course aimed at

For those who train others as part of their role, whether formally or informally, with colleagues, apprentices, partner organisations, clients and community groups.

Trainer

Elaine Bolton of Beckwith Consulting Ltd

Elaine is a learning and development specialist with over 20 years of experience working across a variety of organisations, especially in the public sector including members of the Sussex Training Consortium.

Elaine is highly experienced in training skills, having developed and delivered training and development for a wide range of audiences, from small to large numbers of people – staff, managers, elected members, Board members, volunteers, customers/clients and community groups. Elaine is a Dementia Friends Champion, having trained over 200 Dementia Friends. Elaine is also a coach, facilitator and mediator.

Learning methods

The workshop will be highly participative, questionnaires, exercises, with the group and individual working and input from the trainer. During Day 1 you will be able to start planning and preparing your training session and about 2 weeks later will deliver a training session to the rest of the group, which will be supported by feedback from the rest of the group and the trainer.
