Introduction to managing your own mental health and stress

  • What do we mean by self-care?
  • Simple strategies for managing stress: the stress bucket
  • Being supportive of others’ stress and mental health whilst taking care of ourselves

Training methods

  • Information sharing, discussion, practical exercises, case studies, PowerPoint presentation, course materials

This course will enable you to

  • Recognise signs of stress and poor mental health
  • Identify some common causes of stress and poor mental health
  • Describe some simple self-care strategies for managing stress and maintaining good mental health

Who is the Course aimed at

This course is aimed at anyone who would like to learn more about managing their own stress levels in the workplace. Delegates of any level and any area of the council are welcome.

Trainer

Anna Minogue

Anna is a freelance trainer and mental health professional specialising in the design and delivery of mental health training and consultancy work.

Anna’s background is in mental health where she has over 30 years’ practical experience as a front line support worker, supervisor, manager and trainer. She has worked within both statutory and voluntary sector services and has over 10 years experience of support work and management in mental health crisis services.

Anna has been a lead associate trainer and consultant for National Mind, the UK’s leading mental health charity for over ten years.

She is  a qualified and practicing integrative psychotherapist. Her specialist area is working with people experiencing severe mental health problems such as psychosis, bipolar disorder and complex psychological and emotional difficulties.

Extensive practical and managerial experience coupled with current practitioner status allows Anna to bring an extra dimension to the training environment – discussion, illustrations and examples based on vast experience and real, contemporary case scenarios. Evaluation and feedback indicates that this is a valued part of the learning experience.
