What is the Sussex Training Consortium?

The consortium provides targeted, relevant, high quality training for all staff working in the Districts and Boroughs across East & West Sussex. The prime focus is to enhance and improve the quality and cost of learning and development opportunities.

The purpose of the STC

Targeted training is fundamental for organisations to improve and embrace change positively and maximise the skills of their workforce. Development staff within each of the authorities come together to provide a cost-effective pool of resources which meet the  needs of their organisations.

 

This is vital because:

  • Many management development programmes are generic in design and do not solely reflect the needs of local government.
  • Larger councils have greater resources to deploy for development and can achieve economies of scale.
  • National initiatives can sometimes preclude the majority of district and borough councils sending more than a handful of delegates, due to the cost.
