Overview

This course will provide the delegates with the following:

  • An introduction to Adult Safeguarding
  • Identifying the different types of Abuse, Harm and Neglect
  • How to respond to Concerns & Disclosures
  • How to Report Safeguarding Concerns
  • Understand Legislation and Policy Frameworks
  • What the Roles and Responsibilities are for Local Authorities
  • Understand more about Multi-Agency Working
  • How and When to Make a Safeguarding Referral
  • Reviewing Case Studies and Scenario-based Learning

This course will enable you to

  • Understand the key principles of adult safeguarding and the different types of abuse, harm and neglect.
  • Recognise signs and indicators of abuse and understand how to respond to disclosures appropriately.
  • Be familiar with legislation and policy frameworks guiding adult safeguarding, specifically the Care Act 2014, and the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
  • Understand the safeguarding responsibilities of ADC staff, and the importance of working collaboratively with other agencies.
  • Develop practical skills in making safeguarding referrals, managing risks, and reporting procedures effectively.

Who is the Course aimed at

ADC front line workers who work with the general public, especially away from the office where they would be more likely to identify a potential safeguarding issue that should be reported.  This is particularly relevant to staff who have a DBS or Enhanced DBS check.
